Jennifer Leon
Vice President of Brightree Patient Collections, Brightree
Describe your session in a tweet.
Hot off the press! Follow NHIA for patient financial management tips and tricks to collect while keeping your costs minimal
What is the most important thing you want attendees to take away from your session?
I want attendees of our session to realize THERE ARE other ways to collect from their patients. The 'old school' way of doing things are no longer sustainable and in order to maintain profitable, and provide the patient experience their customers come to expect, they must adjust their billing and collections process.
Excluding your session, what other topics are you passionate about in relation to the home and alternate site industry?
As a 3x cancer survivor, I'm extremely passionate about patient care and ensuring our industry is well equipped to care for patients in their home when able. In order for a patient to be comfortable, and I believe, excel in their healing, being at home is critical. This is their safe space. We has manufacturers and supply chain providers have to be willing and able to solve this for our providers and their patients.
What are you passionate about outside the home and alternate site infusion industry?
I'm a photographer and in my spare time I can be found photographing families which allows me to express my creative side. I also love to bake and cook and providing meals to my friends and family when they need it the most is how I show my love.
What is your superpower?
Empathy. I've always believed my team and the people I work with ARE the solution but if they don't believe in themselves or feel as if they are heard then their superpowers lessen. Being perceptive to what others are feeling, what they may want to add to the conversation and their overall mental health while at work is key in managing employees that are successful in caring for their customers. I have an innate ability to read my team and know when they are struggling mentally and need either attention or time away and this is lost on a lot of managers. I'm proud to say that this is what I put first, ahead of anything else - my people!
What additional superpower would you like to have and why?
X-ray vision or knowledge of a situation before it happens. I'd like to have these 2 super powers so that me and my team can be better equipped to handle any situation BEFORE it happens. Imagine if we knew what was going to happen before it did? How that could change preparedness and overall handling of the instance? This would be an amazing super power to have!
