Ask the Experts: A Panel of Compounding Professionals

Describe your session in a tweet

Join me three times during the NHIA conference! I'll be answering questions, talking about cleaning, and sharing thoughts on EM.

What is the most important thing you want attendees to take away from your session?

Ask the Experts: A Panel of Compounding Professionals - How to determine whether sample incubation should be kept in-house or outsourced. Beyond the Bucket: Designing and Implementing a Successful Cleaning Training Program - An understanding of the chapter requirements for cleaning training. Environmental Monitoring: To Infinity and Beyond - Viable sampling chapter requirements are the minimum standard and more sampling provides valuable insight into the compounding area's state of microbial control.

If you could add a word to the dictionary, what would you add and what would it mean?

Gretz. It's a Pennsylvania Dutch word that means grouch. As an adjective, gretzy. Being of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, I use this word regularly and no one knows what it means!

Excluding your session, what other topics are you passionate about in relation to the home and alternate site industry?

Contamination control Insanitary conditions Sterile compounding best practices

Describe your first professional speaking experience?

My first professional speaking experience was in 2011 at the PDA Pharmaceutical Microbiology Conference. My boss at the time was asked to present and she was not interested, so she suggested to the moderator that I do it. Initially I said no, but changed my mind. I discussed factors that contribute to microbial contamination frequently observed in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments. The room was full. I was so nervous that they had to be able to hear my voice shaking. When it was over, a few pharmaceutical microbiology GOATs reassured me that it was a great presentation. Their support was exactly what I needed to build my confidence and continue on my journey of teaching and speaking!
