Describe your session in a tweet

How can healthcare leaders and administrators be sure to create an affirming environment for LGBTQ+ patients and employees? This session will provide attendees with background info on the challenges of this community, and provide actionable tips to enhance the pharmacy workplace!

What is the most important thing you want attendees to take away from your session?

When communicating with any population experiencing stigma, language matters!

Describe your first professional speaking experience?

I used to teach the basics of diabetes to patients and families at local library branches in Indiana. My favorite part about it was that I could come in with a plan on what to talk about, yet the patients and families had very different (and good!) questions they wanted to discuss instead; A great reminder to tailor a discussion with patients or caregivers to what they care about, not what you THINK they care about!

Excluding your session, what other topics are you passionate about in relation to the home and alternate site industry?

Caring for and improving medication access for underserved/vulnerable populations

If you could add a word to the dictionary, what would you add and what would it mean?

Distractionarium: any setting in which work productivity is impossible to achieve.
