Due to an expanding research base providing guidance for home infusion therapy, the 2024 Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice now include a new Standard titled “Home Infusion Therapy.” This new standard provides practice recommendations for safe transitioning of patients to home infusion, safe practices for a variety of home infusion therapies, and recommendations relative to patient education and ongoing monitoring. We will introduce this new Standard and discuss new recommendations within other standards relevant to infusion administration and vascular access device care and management in the home setting.
