This session outlines the evolving scope and expanded responsibilities of pharmacy technicians in home infusion. They key highlights will include their critical role in sterile compounding, order processing, logistics, and compliance. Emphasizing the need to invest in training and credentialing of pharmacy technicians in the growing demand for home infusion while enabling pharmacist to focus on clinical care.
What is the most important thing you want attendees to take away from your session?
As pharmacy technicians we have opportunities to best support the patient through their home infusion needs as home infusion continues to evolve. Also considering to challenge the status quo to best support the pharmacist involved.
Excluding your session, what other topics are you passionate about in relation to the home and alternate site industry?
I am passionate about clinical care, the growth of pharmacy technicians, and provide ongoing education to support pharmacy team members to ultimately have a positive patient outcome.
If you had a paid year off work, how would you spend it?
I would invest some time back in my family and the other time would be spent on bettering myself with information related to home infusion. It's my passion to provide gained knowledge and experiences to others so their patients will reap the benefits.
If you had a secret identity, what would your alias be and what would you be known for?
A compassionate education! I would be known for doing what is right for the patient! What what's right is not always the easiest option, it may be the harder path; but the outcomes are what's let's us know it was the right thing to do.
What’s your “it’s not a big deal, but it is” hill to die on?
It's not a big deal to make a mistake but it is a big deal to not own up to the mistake or to think it's not a big deal. Patients can be seriously harmed, so learn from your mistakes, own them, learn from them, and grown from them! Learning never has an end.
