This station provides hands-on training in the essential steps of deactivating, decontaminating, cleaning, and disinfecting biosafety cabinets (BSCs) and other areas used for hazardous drug (HD) compounding. Participants will learn how to properly handle HD residues, follow best practices for cleaning surfaces in compliance with USP , and mitigate exposure risks to personnel and the environment. Additionally, this session will review proper handling of hazardous drug waste and the use of appropriate PPE, including respirators and goggles when needed.
Demonstrate proper techniques for deactivating, decontaminating, cleaning, and disinfecting the compounding primary engineering control (C-PEC) after hazardous drug compounding.
Demonstrate proper handling and disposal of hazardous drug waste according to regulatory, state, and organizational guidelines.
