Sterile Compounding Lab Station 03: Gloved Fingertip and Thumb (GFT) Testing

This station focuses on proper technique for donning sterile gloves and performing Gloved Fingertip and Thumb (GFT) testing as required by USP . Participants will demonstrate aseptic gloving techniques, perform fingertip and thumb sampling on TSA plates, and review competency requirements for new and ongoing compounders. The session will also cover incubation procedures, contamination prevention, documentation of results, and corrective actions in case of a failed test.

Learning Objectives

Demonstrate proper sterile glove donning and perform Gloved Fingertip and Thumb (GFT) testing following USP guidelines.

Identify the USP competency requirements for GFT testing, including testing frequency for new and ongoing compounders.

Discuss corrective actions required for failed GFT testing in both new and existing employees.
