Sterile Compounding Lab Station 02: Hazardous Drug Garbing
This station provides hands-on training in donning and doffing hazardous drug (HD) garb in compliance with USP and best practices. Participants will learn the proper sequence for garbing and degarbing in a facility with a negative pressure hazardous buffer room and a positive pressure anteroom, reinforcing the importance of minimizing contamination risks. Additionally, the station will cover the assessment of risk for hazardous drugs, helping participants evaluate exposure risks and identify alternative containment strategies when full USP compliance may not be required.

Learning Objectives
Demonstrate the correct donning and doffing sequence for hazardous drug garbing, including layering of chemo gloves, gowns, and shoe covers.
Understand how facility design impacts garbing procedures and the importance of following site-specific SOPs.
Draft an assessment of risk, incorporating key documentation elements such as containment strategies, exposure risks, and alternative handling practices.
