Maintaining an Effective Hazardous Drug List for Safety

This program will delve into the establishment and management of an effective hazardous drug list as required by USP and mandated by OSHA for employee safety. Establishing a static hazardous drug list based on the NIOSH Hazardous Drug list sets the foundation, this program will focus on how to assess new drugs as they are brought onto the national formulary and developing an effective hazardous drug list. Going beyond the NIOSH hazardous drug list is critical as newer drugs/technologies are being develop that exceed the NIOSH definition for a hazardous drug, this program will highlight these newer drugs and provide guidance.
