Beyond the Build: Designing, Implementing, and Optimizing IV Automation & Technology in the Cleanroom

Activity Description : As home infusion pharmacies continue adopting IV automation and workflow technologies, successful implementation requires thoughtful planning that goes beyond equipment selection. This session explores the full lifecycle of integrating automation into both new and existing cleanroom environments; from pre-construction planning through post-implementation optimization. Attendees will learn change management best practices to support staff adoption and minimize workflow disruption, as well as ergonomic principles that enhance safety, comfort, and productivity in technology-enabled cleanroom environments. Real-world examples and practical lessons learned will help participants prepare for and sustain long-term successful automation initiatives.

Handouts/Tools: Takeaways include: (1) a checklist of facility considerations for IV automation and workflow technologies and (2) an infographic for ergonomic principles and movement exercises for personnel.
