Home infusion nurses must rapidly synthesize diagnosis-specific information, vascular access device status, and whole patient assessment findings to determine whether therapy is safe, appropriate, and progressing as expected. This 30-minute session strengthens clinical reasoning by connecting head-to-toe assessment, therapy-specific indicators (PN, inotropes, anti-infectives, biologics), and the “why” behind each visit. Nurses will learn to evaluate whether patients are meeting individualized care-plan goals, identify when goals need to be modified, and document the rationale for updating the care plan. Through case-based scenarios, participants will practice identifying red flags, prioritizing interventions, and articulating clear, defensible documentation that reflects clinical judgement and supports ongoing care-plan refinement.
Integrate diagnosis-specific cues, VAD assessment findings, and head-to-toe observations to form a complete clinical picture of a home-infusion patient.
Apply critical thinking frameworks to determine the purpose of each visit, evaluate patient progression, and document rationale for nursing decisions and care plan.
